Why Choose Us?

We use the same internal parts on all of our models “Forever Brick” technology Burn Pot Liner Solid state control boards on all units Some of the highest performance ratings in the industry

Same Parts

The same parts mean less complications when it comes to repairs and service. Service techs will always have parts

"Forever Brick"

Unlike many companies, we use steel in our burn chambers instead of ceramics. This adds to the durability and longevity of your stove.

Burn Pot Liner

We use a burn pot liner, opposed to one solid piece. A pellet stove burn pot is subjected to a lot of abuse and erodes over time. Because we use a liner it can be easily replaced at a significant savings over replacing the entire assembly, saving you money over the life of your stove.

Solid State Control Board

We use the same boards on all of our models to increase savings and allow more efficient service. Our solid state control boards allow 3 modes of operation. Manual, Thermostat High/Low, and Thermostat On/Off. Ask your dealer about more details and which settings are right for you.

High Performance

Our units boast an average 77% efficiency rating among every line we produce. More efficient stoves equate to better savings for our customers and are better for the environment.

About Us

It all started in 1973. Our grandfather owned a local oil delivery business in Agawam, Massachusetts. He told our father that his customers had a hard time paying for oil that was 16 cents per gallon. Our grandfather also predicted that someday oil would hit 25 cents per gallon and people would have a very hard time heating their homes. That year, our father, Bob Cohen, started a woodstove distribution company in our family garage. We called it BAC Sales after our mother, Barbara Ann Cohen. The first stove brand we sold was Better ‘n Bens, made in Unionville, CT.

After years of calling on woodstove shops and working long hours, our parents grew BAC Sales into a company that employed 55 people and operated out of a 60,000-square-foot warehouse. Our whole lives, we have worked at BAC Sales, doing everything from punching holes in literature for our father’s catalog in the ’80s to driving delivery trucks and installing stoves and fireplaces in the late ’80s and early ’90s.

In 1992, we became the owners of Jack’s Sidilla Shoppe in Oneonta, NY—a retail store selling hearth products. From 1992 to 2003, we sold more than 2,700 pellet and wood stoves. We have always wanted to make a better stove. Over the years, we have helped our manufacturers improve their products with real-world R&D, believing that real-world testing is the best way to enhance a product.

Hudson River Stoves are our crowning achievement. We have designed them to be simple to maintain and repair. We have included large ash pans to extend cleaning intervals and use magnetic access doors on all our pellet stoves. This makes maintenance easier than unscrewing side panels to access components for yearly upkeep or repairs. This simple step will save our customers hundreds of dollars over the life of the stove. Our way—5 seconds; the old way—10 minutes. We have designed our stoves to work in the real world, not just in a laboratory.
